• Soil Profile and Geologic Information <br /> The Site is mapped on the Preliminary geologic map of Cenozoic deposits of the Bellota <br /> quadrangle, California (Marchand and Bartow, 1979). It is depicted within map units of <br /> the Riverbank Formation upper and middle units and the Turlock Lake Formation. The <br /> Riverbank Formation upper and middle units are described as "foothill-derived alluvial <br /> sand and silt," and the Turlock Lake Formation is described as "arkosic alluvium, <br /> probably glacial outwash in part... chiefly sand with some silt and minor gravel' (Plate <br /> 7). <br /> The surface and near surface soils located at the Site are reported by the Web Soil <br /> Survey (USDA, 2016) to be composed of Montpellier-Cometa complex, San Joaquin <br /> sandy loam, and San Joaquin loam (Plate 8). The table below presents some selected <br /> properties of these soils: <br /> Table 1.
