Surface&Subsurface Contamination Report Page 10
700 W.Linne Rd.,Tracy
Project No. 662,1
February 11,2013
grade and flows in a northeasterly direction. Groundwater monitoring data from a remedial
investigation at 3780 W. Linne Road, about 1 mile west of the Property, suggest that locally,
groundwater lies at about 12 feet below grade and flows in a north easterly direction.
The nearest open body of water is the San Joaquin River, about 1 mile to the east. An
ephemeral stream lies near the southeast boundary of the Property and is included in the
federal wetlands inventory. According to maps in the EDR report, the Property does not lie
within a 100-year flood zone.
In much of the Central Valley, the shallow groundwater contains marginally potable water,
and generally the only water production wells completed opposite this zone are domestic
wells. The shallow aquifer is composed of shallow sand, and silt alluvium deposited on the
valley floor. Hotchkiss & Balding, in their 1971 US Geological Survey report, Geology.
Hydroloey, and Water Quality of the Tracy-Dos Palos Area San Joaquin Valley. California,
(Open File Report 72-169) described the aquifers and their characteristics for the Tracy-Dos
Palos area. In the Vernalis-New Jerusalem area, the recent alluvium is generally less than
100 feet thick and directly overlies the Tulare Formation, a Plio-Pleistocene age, mixed
clastic sequence of clay, silt, sand and gravel. There is little to distinguish the contact
between the base of the alluvium from the top of the Tulare Formation
Petroleum Production
Based on oil and gas production maps produced by the California Division of Oil, Gas and
Geothermal Resources, the lies within the confines of the northern part of the Vernalis Gas
Field. Three wells have been drilled on the Property. One well, Paulson 32-9 was
abandoned as a dry hole and never was completed as a gas producer, while Paulson 14-9 and
Vintage TLW 26-1 were completed as gas producing wells. The Vernalis field produces
natural gas from a depth of about 4,000 to 5,000 feet from the Cretaceous age Panoche
Formation.
Federal Wetlands
Based on information on the map in the EDR report (Appendix D) the Propedoes not ,
ft'
include lands recognized in the federal wetlands inventory, although lands ng the/
wet a
ephemeral stream near the southeast property line are included in the federal nds '
inventory.
Radon
Soil testing by EPA and CaliO Department of Toxic Substance Control show that
naturally occurring radon does not pos a human health risk in the Central Valley.
2937 Veneman Ave.,#13240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
