(EHD Requirement)
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
As the calculations indicate above, the disposal area soils should manage the anticipated effluent
flows from the proposed increase in events at the Windmill Ridge Winery. However, it is
unknown how long the installed system will have the capacity to manage these future flow
volumes. This is the reasoning behind the above-referenced recommendation of installing two
observation ports for direct observation of the soil-effluent interface. Additionally, as a safety
factor, it is recommended to have on-site portable toilets for large and/or long-lasting events.
Mr. Prioste has stated that there have never been any problems with the subject septic system,
other than immediately after installation'there a problem with the pump alarm. Septic
system problems are also a major predictive factor in the assessment of the operations of a
system.
It is imperative that domestic water use at the SFR and the winery reception area be kept as low
as possible. All plumbing fixtures should be checked on a periodic basis (preferably monthly)
for leaks. Also, ensure that the SFR have low-flow fixtures installed.
It is my understanding that catered appetizers and/or dine may be served at these events, with
a warming oven for food safety. It is imperative that I food and food products remaining
from the scheduled events are handled as solid wastes anispose of in the garbage and not
through the sinks and into the septic system. There should not be a garbage disposal in the SFR
kitchen sink and all food products must also be handled as solid wastes and disposed of as such.
ee-All septic systems have a lifespan, which is unpredictable due to several factors. The 100%
replacement area is located directly south of the primary disposal area. It will be a simple
procedure to install the replacement system in this location. There is sufficient area, equipment
accessability, and no decrease in parking availability when the primary disposal area fails and the
time comes to install and activate this replacement area.
