Watts Winery *AW ,,,i Page 10 of 14
Our Project Number: LGS090507
May 11, 2009
Average potential evapotranspiration was obtained from the California Irrigation Management
Information System (CIMIS). Lodi is located within evapotranspiration zone number 12.
Average rainfall was obtained from the Western Regional Climate Center (Station 048558).
Based on this method, the average deep percolation of rain for the Lodi area is estimated to be
5.76 inches. The nitrate concentration of rainfall was estimated to be 1 mg/L-N (Hantzsche and
Finnemore, 1992).
2.3.3 Current On-Site Sources of Nitrate
There are no current on-site sources of nitrate except for natural processes.
2.3.4 Future On-Site Sources of Nitrate
2.3.4.1 Quantity and Quality of Domestic Wastewater From Proposed Project
The following discussion is for determining the long-term waste water flow generated from the
proposed construction for the nitrate loading analysis and should not be used for septic system
design purposes. Typically, use estimates for the sizing of septic systems include a peak use
factor, whereas the numbers discussed here are based on long-term averages.
The barrel storage building is proposed to have no employees and will be used solely for
storage. We understand that the proposed office/tasting room is planned to be open
approximately eight hours per day, three days per week. It will also have one full time
employee for eight hours per day, five days a week. The tasting room is expected to have
thirty customers a day, three days a week (with no food being served). Annually, it is expected
that there will be 4 banquets a year with up to 400 guests, and 10 employees serving. There is
also one residence on-site which includes a three bedroom house with individual living within.
The estimated sewage flow rates for use categories are available from a number of references.
The uses presented below were guided by the San Joaquin County On-Site Wastewater Disposal
Standards (2003), Crites and Tchobanoglous (1998), and EPA (1980). The references are
illustrated below in Table 4.
The following table presents the septic waste water uses associated with the Site. The rates
presented from the references provide general guidance but do not always reflect a match in
usage. Careful examination, professional judgment, and experience are necessary to select a
reasonable flow rate estimate. The flow rates selected for the uses associated with this project
are presented next.
r
' 902 Industrial Way•Lodi,CA 95240•209.367.3701 •Fax 209.369.4228 b2009 Neil O.Anderson&Associates,Inc
