.. GREWAL & BACCHETTI PROPERTY
Page No. 3
VI . SOIL PROFILE AND PERCOLATION TESTS
Three, 10 foot deep test holes were excavated by hand in the
area of the proposed homesites in order to determine the soil
profile in the general area. For approximate location of the test
holes (PT) see the Parcel Map in the Appendix. The tests holes
were logged by a civil engineer and a description of the soils
. encountered in each test hole is contained in the Appendix. The
soils encountered in the test holes consisted predominately of
interbeded layers of silty sand and sandy silt. For a more
` detailed description of the soils encountered see the log of test
holes.
Three 36 inch deep by 8 inch diameter test hole were excavated
by hand adjacent to the soil profile holes for performing shallow
percolation tests. Two inches of gravel was placed in the bottom
of each hole. A 3 inch diameter perforated pipe was then placed in
each hole and backfilled with gravel. Test holes were filled with
water 24 hours prior to running the tests. The last half hour of
the tests readings were witnessed by a county health official and
the test data obtained is enclosed in the appendix. The
percolation rates have been adjusted to account for the gravel and
pipe backfill. Calculations for adjustments are on the test data
sheets.
A summary of the test results is presented next:
Diameter of Depth of
` Test No. Hole (in. ) Hole (in. ) Percolation Rate (min/in)
PT-1 8 36 23
PT-2 8 36 23
PT-3 8 36 59
VII CONCLUSION
Based on the results of the shallow percolation tests, the
soil profile, and the performance of the septic system in the area,
it is our opinion that the proposed homesites resulting from the
proposed parcel splits should be suitable for use of on site sewage
disposal systems consisting of septic tanks and shallow leach
r lines. The proposed systems however, should be properly designed
and installed according to current San Joaquin County criteria.
Y pERY H
s
` 1 W
O
'SSO G\
P
V
