Lower Sacramento Road, Stockton, CA
APN: 084-020-01
Project Description / Justification Statement
General:
Omnipoint Communications, Inc. dba T-Mobile ("T-MOBILE"), has been authorized by
the Federal Communications Commission to construct and operate in the United
States. Based in Bellevue, Washington, T-Mobile USA (formerly VoiceStream Wireless)
is one of the fastest growing nationwide wireless service providers, offering all digital
voice, messaging and high-speed wireless data services to nearly 10 million customers.
T-mobile is in the process of expanding its wireless network coverage and capacity
within San Joaquin County and is pleased to partner with Nextel of California in the co-
development of a new telecommunications facility. The proposed T-Mobile / Nextel co-
developed wireless telecommunications facility will be located at 10100 N. Lower
Sacramento Road, Stockton, CA (APN 084-020-01). The facility will consist of an 85'
steel monopole with up to 12 T-Mobile antennas mounted to a RAD center at the 85'
level, up to 12 Nextel antennas mounted at the 70' level, a T-mobile 8' x 20' equipment
concrete pad and a proposed microwave dish as needed. The overall height of the
facility will be 87' 3". T-mobile's radio equipment will be located on the equipment pad
and be connected to the antennas via coaxial cables.
Justification Statement:
The economic, business and residential growth, along with increased general public
usage of T-Mobile wireless services in the Central Valley, have significantly increased
the volume of calls on the T-Mobile network serving greater San Joaquin County. T-
Mobile users have expressed concerns about wireless coverage and capacity issues in
the north end of Stockton and this site is designed to increase coverage and capacity
along the busy arterial streets of Eight Mile Road and Lower Sacramento Road.
The new wireless facility will provide enhanced cellular service to surrounding industrial,
commercial, tourist and residential developments throughout the rapidly growing portion
of San Joaquin County between Stockton and Lodi.
