In general, comments contained
herein are intender) to address concerns raised by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Division regarding this line. It should be noted Brown A Mills previously conducted a
geotechnical investigation for the subject site and project. Results of this previous investigatiun I
are contented in a report entitled: "GFOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATION REPORT.
PROPOSED TELECOMMUNICATIONS FACILITY, LOWER SAC/8 MILE, SITE NO. i
SA-244-01. 11919 LOWER SACRAMENTO ROAD, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY,
CALIFORNIA", dated May 6, 1999. ,
[lased on discussions with the property owner, we understand an existing (and active) sanitary
sewer ]each line is located within a few-to-several feet east of the proposed site. Purther, we i
understated this line consists of perforated plastic pipe, placed within an approximately 4-foot-
deep, 2-foot-wide trench, surrounded by gravel. Additionally, we understand the line is used
to dispose of domestic wastewater generated by a nearby office. I
In our opinion, the presentee of a nearby sanitary sewer leach line should not significantly impact
the lateral and vertical support characteristics of the ground surface in the vicinity of the
proposed steel monopole telecommunications tower and adjscem equipment cabineut. However.
based on the conditions encountered during our previous geotechnical investigation, we amicip1w
cohesionless sandy soils (susceptible to caving) will be encountered during excavations for the
proposed tower foundation pier, from hear-surface to a depth of approximately 7 feet, and from
approximately 18 to 24 feet below existing site grade. To reduce the potential for caving-
i
994O hw:uurel Prue Nave.Suite 140,SaCf2l"w1a.CaNkrrlla 96627 Pftmo(916)p62 55.11 PAX(llifi):a6':/454
I
