CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL BOARD <br /> CENTRAL VALLEY REGION <br /> MONITORING AND REPORTING PROGRAM NO. <br /> FOR <br /> HOUSLEY FAMILY INVESTMENTS <br /> dba HOUSLEY VINEYARDS WINERY <br /> SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY <br /> This monitoring and reporting program (MRP)presents requirements for monitoring of the septic tank, <br /> septic tank leachfield, winery wastewater effluent, and groundwater. This MRP is issued pursuant to <br /> Water Code Section 13267. The Discharger shall not implement any changes to this MRP unless and <br /> until a revised MRP is issued by the Executive Officer. Specific sample station locations shall be <br /> approved by Regional Board staff prior to implementation of sampling activities. <br /> All wastewater samples should be representative of the volume and nature of the discharge. The time, <br /> date, and location of each grab sample shall be recorded on the sample chain of custody form. <br /> SEPTIC TANK MONITORING <br /> Beginning 1 September 2000, septic tanks shall be inspected and pumped as described below. <br /> Inspections of sludge and scum depth are not required if the tanks are pumped at least annually. <br /> Inspection and <br /> Parameter Units Type of Measurement Reporting Frequency <br /> Sludge depth and scum thickness Feet Staff Gauge Annually <br /> in each compartment of each septic tank. <br /> Distance between bottom of scum Inches Staff gauge Annually <br /> layer and bottom of outlet device. <br /> Distance between top of sludge layer Inches Staff gauge Annually <br /> and bottom of outlet device. <br /> Septic tanks shall be pumped when any one of the following conditions exist or may occur before the <br /> next inspection: <br /> a. The combined thickness of sludge and scum exceeds one-third of the tank depth of the first <br /> compartment: or, <br /> b. The scum layer is within three inches of the outlet device; or, <br /> c. The sludge layer is within eight inches of the outlet device. <br /> LEACHFIELD MONITORING <br /> The domestic wastewater systems will be visually monitored. Leachfield monitoring will consist of <br /> visual inspection of the leachfield and nearby area. The leachfield shall be inspected on a monthly <br /> basis for the presence of wet areas, leachate or groundwater seepage, objectionable odors, and/or <br /> unexpected plant growth. Leachfield monitoring results shall be included with all monthly monitoring <br /> reports. <br />
