Storage facility. The project is located on the South side of State Route 120, 910' east of
Austin Road, East of Manteca. Our Traffic Operations Branch offers the following comment:
• Caltrans will require dedication of 50-feet from centerline and pavement to 38-feet as
required for commercial development along the State Highway System (SHS).
• Any access onto State Route 120 will require an encroachment permit by Caltrans.
To expedite the review of the encroachment permit by Caltrans, the proponent should
evaluate potential environmental impacts within the State right of way. The right of way
that may be impacted should be included within the area studied for the local lead agency
environmental review. Caltrans has asked for cultural resource, biological resource and
hazardous waste investigations when these issues have not been adequately addressed for
our right of way by the lead agency review. The lead agency should review the need for
those and other studies with the applicant and provide Caltrans with either: (1)
appropriate studies done by qualified professional staff, or(2) the estimate for their CEQA
determination that these studies are not of concern in State right of way.
If you have any questions regarding our review, please contact Chris Sayre of my staff at
(209) 948-7142.
Sincerely,
CARLOS P. YANIZON, Acting Chief
Transportation Planning Branch B
609540
