PA-02-78
Joseph & Susan Giulian
Mr. Jose Rubianes
Community Development Department
San Joaquin County
1810 E. Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
Dear Mr. Rubianes:
Caltrans has reviewed the above application (PA-02-78) for the conversion of a fruit
stand to a small agricultural store on the north side of State Route (SR) 120, 4000 feet
west of Jack Tone Road, Manteca (APN 208-170-17). Caltrans has the following
comments:
1. Right of way dedication to 15.24 meters (50 feet) from centerline for SR 120 fronting
the subject property will be required.
2. Currently there exist four substandard driveways accessing SR 120 along the project's
frontage. These four driveways should be consolidated to two and comply with the
following:
Caltrans has commercial standards for driveways serving a commercial use with direct
access onto state highways. Any new driveways as well as existing driveways shall
be built or upgraded to current state standards. Where applicable, any sidewalks, curb
and gutter, or ramp shall be in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The standards are available from Marcel De La Cruz at (209) 948-3656.
3. Caltrans requests a proposed improvernent plan, to include a striping plan, so that
exact mitigation requirements may be determined.
4. The existing traffic volumes (ADT) do not warrant an eastbound left turn pocket on
SR 120. However, if a safety and/or operational problem develops, a left turn'pocket
will be required. At such time, Caltrans will require pave out from centerline of the
dedication listed in item #1.
5. The above improvements will require an Encroachment Permit from Caltrans. The
environmental document prepared for the project that includes Caltrans right of way
must be submitted with the Encroachment Pen-nit Application. Caltrans also requires
documentation that cultural (archaeological), biological, and hazardous waste surveys
have been conducted within Caltrans right of way.
`Caltrans improves mobility across California"
606700.S1.RUBIANESJOSEPH&SUSAN GIULIAN
HIGGINS.ra
