6 . 0 PROJECT ALTERNATIVES
6 . 1 No Project
If this Conditional Use Permit application is denied , the
quarrying operation would not occur . Mineable reserves exist
throughout the area, but as permitted reserves are depleted,
there will be continued pressures for additional quarry
development . Resulting in less optimal resources being mined in
the area with greater impacts . No significant adverse
environmental impacts or adverse changes have been identified
in this report that would be avoided or mitigated by this
alternative .
6 . 2 Alternative Design : Smaller Scale Operation
In this alternative, a Conditional Use Permit for a
smaller-scale operation would be applied for . The principle
effects of this alternative would be a reduction in the
duration of the project , and a reduction in the total volume of
material to be processed . Somewhat fewer surface acres of the
site would be disrupted by quarrying Any potentially
significant environmental effects identified in this report
would also occur with the smaller-scale operation . As mineable
reserves remain, there could be continued pressures for quarry
development . Landmark Lathrop Group, LLC needs to know that
they can excavate their reserves of sand for the San Joaquin
County area for the next 3-4 years . No significant
unmitigatable adverse environmental effects would be avoided or
mitigated by this alternative .
Landmark Lathrop Group, LLC
- 1 - February 3, 2000
