The project consists of a plan to divide one 20-acre parcel into four 5-acre lots. The
project is located near the intersection of BruelIa and Peltier Roads, in San Joaquin County.
The project will result in the.conversion of 20 acres of open-space agricultural lands to
non/open-space use. The conversion of agricultural land will result in a significant negative
effect by contributing to the cumulative loss of wildlife habitat. For this reason, the recently
f adopted San Joaquin Multi-Species Conservation Plan(SJMSCP) requires the loss of agricultural
I lands be compensated through the payment of fees. These fees will be_ used to establish wildlife
habitat preserves which will compensate for the loss of habitat.
The San Joaquin County is signatory to the SJMSCP, and as such should request that
project applicants participate in the SJMSCP. Participation in the SJMSCP satisfies
requirements of both the State and Federal endangered species acts, and ensures that impacts are
mitigated below a level of significance in compliance with the California Environmental Quality
Act (CEQA). Although participation in the SJMSCP is voluntary, the DFG recommends the lead
agency participate in the SJMSCP. If they choose against participating in the SJMSCP,they
should provide alternative mitigation in an amount and kind equal to thatP rovided in the
SJMSCP.
Pursuant to Public Resources Code Sections 21092 and 21042.2, the DFG requests
written notification of proposed actions and pending decisions regarding this project. Written
notifications should be directed to this office.
1 -
i
i
