INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this project is to divide a 5.00 acre parcel from a 160 acre parcel. In accordance
with the San Joaquin County Development Title, this Surface and Subsurface Contamination
Report (SSCR) is being submitted for application with the tentative map. This report will
investigate the property for visual or historical environment contamination based on field
observation and testimony from the owners.
This report includes no chemical analysis. A Condition of Approval for the Minor Subdivision
will require percolation tests and groundwater tests from the wells (nitrates and DBCP). Those
results will be included in the Soils Suitability Report.
Project Description
The project consists of one parcel located at 8129 N. Podesta Lane, Linden. The project is in a
farming community and is surrounded by agricultural land. It is zoned AG-40. The site has one
home and is currently an orchard. See tentative map included in the appendix.
The proposed 5.00 acre parcel will contain a future homesite. The remaining parcel has an older
home located on it and historically has been farmed. Irrigation is provided via a private
agriculture well.
Project History Q
The primary source of information on the historical use of the property is testi om the U-J- -•
o_,w=s and records from the County (San Joaquin County Agricultural Commissioner's Office
and the San Joaquin County Contaminated Site List). The Podesta family has owned the
property for more than 50 years. This property and all surrounding properties have had basically
consistent uses (farming) in the time the Podesta's have owned the property.
A review of County Records for the past five years (see Appendix) yielded chemical use
consistent with the historical use of the property (orchard). The property has been farmed by the
same family, for at least the last fifty years.
Field InyestilZation
The following information was obtained during a field investigation of the site as well as
interviewing the property owners.
1
C:121071Surface and Subsurface Report
