SITE APPROVAL APPLICATION FOR PACIFEX
I have reviewed the Pacifex file for the French Camp warehouse facility.
The Hazardous Materials Management Plan for 1992 is on file and has been
approved for this facility.
If this facility is granted approval for storage or processing additional
chemicals, a revised and updated Hazardous Materials Management Plan is
required by law within 30 days from the time these chemicals are handled
or stored on the property. Also, threatened release or release reporting as
required by Section 25505 applies to fertilizers or fertilizer mixtures
that would be stored or handled at this facility.
The hazard associated with fertilizer chemicals such as Ammonium
Nitrate is the oxidizing potential, Contamination and confinement with
flammables or combustibles can produce an unstable state with the
possibility of explosion under certain conditions.
AB/ss
cc: Captain McCall, French Camp Fire
