HIGHWAY 99 EAST FRONTAGE ROAD
MANTECA, CALIFORNIA
Dear Mr. Bola:
Kleinfelder is pleased to present the results of our soil suitability and nitrate loading study for the
subject project located near Manteca, in San Joaquin County, California. The purpose of our
study was to determine the suitability of the property for septic tank usage in general accordance
to the requirements of Section 9-101000 of San Joaquin County Ordinance. The following
includes background information regarding the proposed development, present use of the site,
and historical groundwater depths in the project area. In addition, discussions regarding our
investigative procedures, the site conditions encountered during our field exploration, and the
results of percolation tests are presented. Finally, the results of our nitrate loading calculations,
drainage basin recommendations, and project limitations are provided.
PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT
On a preliminary basis, we understand that a small commercial building will be constructed on
the subject 1.68-acre site. The building will be serviced by a conventional leach trench/septic
tank disposal system that will be located in the northeast portion of the site. A shallow detention
basin will be located in the western portion of the site. We understand that fixtures disposing
into the leach field will consist of 1 commode and 1 sink and that a maximum of 4 employees
will occupy the building each day for an 8 hour period. Given the soil conditions encountered,
we anticipate the disposal trenches will be relatively shallow (3 to 4 feet below site grade).
PRESENT USE OF THE SITE
At the time of our field exploration, the project site was essentially level and enclosed by a
chain-link fence. A majority of the site was covered by gravel. An abandoned building was
located in the west-central portion of the site. A power pole, pressure tank, and water well were
located adjacent the north-central perimeter of the site. The site was bound by Lathrop Road to
204630-01.G01/201 I R986 Page 1 of 5
Copyright 2001 Kleinfelder,Inc.
