Hazelton Ave.
Stockton,CA 95205
Dear Ms.King,
The California Department of Transportation(Department)appreciates the opportunity to
comment on the Site Approval application to construct a V-shaped, double sided and illuminated
off-premises billboard sign totaling 672 square feet with an overall height of 45 feet that will
replace an existing off-premise sign. The proposed project site is located on the west side of
State Route 99 East Frontage, 800 feet south of Lathrop Road,in Manteca.
Upon review of this project, the Department has the following comments:
On November 6,2012,the Department and CBS Outdoor, the applicant for this Site Approval,
entered into a Relocation and Settlement Agreement governing the removal and relocation of a
then-existing display on the west side of State Route 99 East Frontage Road, approximately 700
feet south of Lathrop Road in Manteca that would interfere with the State Route 99 improvement
project. The Department confirmed the removal of the display on October 12,2012. This letter
is in support of CBS Outdoor's applications and efforts to relocate that sign to another lawful
location according to Paragraph I of the Relocation and Settlement Agreement.
Notwithstanding the provisions of the above referenced Relocation and Settlement Agreement,
CBS Outdoor must apply and be approved for a new outdoor advertising permit through the
Outdoor Advertising Program in order to place a display at the above referenced project site
location. For additional information and a permit application please visit the Department's
Outdoor Advertising Program website at www.dotxa.gov/oda.
Please be aware that the Outdoor Advertising Program will not review or approve an application
for display to be located in a construction zone. Nor will the Program reserve a location for an
applicant or an owner whose display has been taken. Locations are determined on a first come
first service basis.
"Caltrans improves mobility across California"
