209-463-6393 3550 So Hwy. 99
_ax 209-463-5873 D Stockton, CA 95215
11 1/98
San Joaquin County Public Health
Environmental Health Division-
304 east Weber third floor
P.O. box 388
Stockton Ca, 95201-0388
Dear Mike Huggins
As per the our conversation during your visit on 3/17/98, I am addressing you in writing.
As to the original complaint of pumping water to the evaporation pond. We have no
pumps and no way of mechanically pumping water to the pond.
As to the water observed by your investigator flowing into the storm drain. We believe
that was carry off. When the truck and trailer leaves the building it will pull some water out of the
building with it. This amount tends to be more during busy hours then slow times. When you and
I originally talked in February of 1995 carry off could no exceed 10 %. On an average wash day
we recycle over 39,000 gallons of water(approx 650 gallons of water per truck and trailer). We
only add 3000 to 5000 gallons of fresh water to the system a day. Roto Rooter or Richards
Pumping comes by and picks up excessive water, when necessary( about 3200 gallons per load).
We feel we are probably putting less then 1 %to the storm drain, the rest of the water is carried
off or evaporated.
The last topic is the fresh water valve that we discussed. When the fresh water tank gets
low a valve automatically opens and refills the tanks. A half a dozen times over the last three years
the valve has failed to close automatically in the middle of the night. Our security company has
called us and told us that water was escaping the building. At that time we shut the valve off and
call Roto Rooter to pump excessive water. However some water has reached the evaporation
pond, but it is mostly fresh water from the well.
If you require more information please let me know.
Respectfully
Randy McNurlin
"Located at Mariposa Rd. and Hwy 99 in Stockton, California."
