Soil Suitability Study 3
One ( 1 ) of the nine permits reviewed was for changing the
existing system by installing one ( 1 ) , 100 ' long, leach line and two
( 2 ) pits 36" in diameter and 25 ' deep .
Four (4) of the permits reviewed were for initial facilities .
Three (3) of these initial facility permits were for constructing
35 ' to 80 ' long leach lines draining into pits 33" to 48" in
diameter and 25 ' deep. One of the initial installations was for
just a 80 ' long leach line.
The remaining permit was for installing an 80 ' long leach line
draining into a sump.
The soil types listed for the nine (9) permits studied were of
three (3 ) classifications ( clay loam, clay and hardpan) . Five ( 5)
of the permits listed the soil as clay loam. Two ( 2 ) of the permits
listed the soil as clay and the remaining two (2 ) permits listed
the soil as hardpan.
Existing Use:
Except for the existing homesite and a barn, the land involved
in this soil suitability study, is devoted to the raising of
cattle. Both the house and the barn will be situate on Parcel No.
1 in the planned divided condition. The house will be situate at
the westerly boundary line of Parcel No . 1 and the barn will be
situate in the southeast corner of Parcel No . 1 in the planned
divided condition.
Soil Profile Test :
No water was encountered in excavating any of the Soil Profile
and Percolation Test Holes to a maximum depth of ten ( 10) feet . The
San Joaquin County Flood Control And Water Conservation Map
entitled "Lines of Equal Depth To Water Wells" dated Fall 1990
shows the water to be in excess of 100 feet below the ground
surface .
On my attached "Field Percolation Data Sheets" , I have noted
the soil encountered to be of three (3 ) types , ( 1 ) a reddish-brown
sandy loam and (2) gray sand and (3) gray clay. The University Of
California publication entitled "Soils Of San Joaquin County,
California" by Walter W. Weir , dated June 1952 , refers to the soil
in this general area as "San Joaquin and/or San Joaquin loam,
deep" .
F.vered J . (Red) Mason MS-91-40
