February 27,2002
Job Number: LG02-048
Page 14
Due to the sandy(/soils encountered, shallow depth to ground water, and elevated levels of
nitrate in the shallow ground water, we recommend the use of a filter bed septic system modified.
for additional nitrate reduction. If a second unit dwelling is constructed on Parcels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,
6, and 7, an engineered septic system optimized for nitrate reduction should be utilized for the
second dwelling unit. If this second unit is desired, our office is experienced in the design of
engineered septic systems. The recommendations for the project are as follows:
1) A filter b stemmndi id for nitrate,Ieductiogis_,recommended,for all.
parcels. Iarcels 1, 2, 3, 4_56aand 7 add a second dw,eling unit,aiseparate
engineered septic system optimized for nitrate reduction is recomznekidgd.,.
2) The filter bed system should be supplemented with approximately 4-inches of
peat or omania nil This material should be placed on the base of the filter bed
below the filter material. This material should slow the percolation rate and
provide a carbon source to increase denitrifncaton of the effluent.
3) Follow San Joaquin County Public Health Services Sewage Standards where
applicable.
IX. LIMITATIONS
The conclusions of this report are based on the information provided regarding the
existing and proposed development, the use of the subject property, and the site conditions as
they existed at the time we excavated our test holes and performed the percolation tests. It was
assumed that the test holes and percolation test results are representative of the subsurface
conditions in the general area.
Our professional services were performed, our findings obtained, and our conclusions
proposed in accordance with generally accepted engineering principles and practices. This
warranty is in lieu of all other warranties either expressed or implied. Test findings and
statements of professional opinion do not constitute a guarantee or warranty, expressed or
implied.
Best Regards,
NEIL O.
