The site is located within Section 1, Township 1 North, Range 8
East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian. This property and the surrounding area are zoned Rural
Residential. The topography of the site is flat with a gradient of 0.006 sloping from southeast
to northwest.
The topographic soils map prepared by the United States Department of Agriculture, Soils
Conservation Service, indicates the site is largely covered by San Joaquin sandy loam. For many
years, the subject property has been used as pasture. The Fall 1993 San Joaquin County Water
Conservation District Maps reveal that the standing water level of the subject site to be at a depth
of approximately one hundred and sixty (160) feet. This relates to a groundwater elevation of
approximately -60 feet.
Attached are copies of percolation tests performed on July 27 and September 6, 1994, by
Siegfried Engineering,Inc., Consulting Civil Engineers. The holes tested on July 27, 1994 reveal
that the surface soils are underlain by loamy soil to a depth of approximately three (3) feet. The
observed percolation rates are 250, 28, 250 and 42 minutes per inch for Test Holes 1, 2, 3 and
4 respectively. The slow percolation rates for the Test Holes 1 and 3 made it necessary to retest
the two (2) failed test sites with deeper pits. At the failed test sites, two new pits were dug to
a depth of approximately six (6) feet and on September 6, 1994 the new pits were tested. The
deepened test pits revealed that, to a depth of approximately five feet, the surface soils are
underlain by loamy soil. Thereafter, to a depth of approximately 6 feet, the soil has a higher
sand content with some gravel. The observed percolation rates for Test Holes 1B and 3B are 60
and 38 minutes per inch, respectively. The slow percolation and hardpan associated with this site
will require the use of leach lines and seepage pits. Ripping the hardpan would also increase
permeability.
4045 Coronado Ave. ■ Stockton, CA 95204-2396 ■ 209 943-2021 • FAX 209 942-0214
F:SMM\94174LT.RG\8-03-94
