California <br /> Dear Mr. Derby <br /> This report plesents the conclusions and lec11nuneudalions of our evalualioo of the southern 7UO <br /> feel of Harrold Avenue in San Joaquin (7ounly, California. Al your request, we have evaluated <br /> the existing pavement section with regards to tna increase in truck traffic due to the development <br /> of all aggregate source oil lite cast side of Harrold Avenue. The section of road that was <br /> evaluated extends from River Road north 700 feet. Our scope of services were developed alter <br /> discussions with vola and Mr. Gibe Kmam of San Joaquin County Public Works Department. <br /> r <br /> As pall of our evalwdlon, we lhdlcll l lest bol'allgs to (IC1)IIIS of a11111oxilliately 5 feet below the <br /> existing pavcmcnl sallilce. The lilsl holing was dlillcd appluximalely 665 <br /> feel north of River Road in the soulhhound lane; the second boring was about 400 feel north of <br /> River (toad in the norlllbound lane; and the Third boring was approximately 150 feet north of <br /> River Road in the southbound lane. These borings were located in lite field by pacing and <br /> Ihciefore the above staled locations ale approxinmlc only. The soils encountered in the test <br /> borings weic logged Ivy pelsonncl of our lirnl. Following the drilling, the lest holes were <br /> backlillcd with the callings and lite pavcmcnl rl'pailed wish cold parch asphalt <br /> lite pavement scclion al each of the 1 tcsl bolings consisted of 4!: to '1'/, inchcs of asphalt <br /> concrete overlying silly sand which extended to a depth of between 18- and 24-inchcs below the <br /> pavement surface in the first and scCO1111 b0liogs. The silly sands werc underlain by slightly <br /> clayey, very silly line sand that extended It, 5 feel. The silly sand extended to 4% feet in the <br /> third or most soulllclly boring. Tltis sand was underlain by sandy sill that extended to the 5-foot <br /> depth. <br /> Two bulk samples of the near surface soil lona adjacent lu the pavcmcnl near the first and third <br /> burings. These samples were Iehuued to our laboratory for testing. The tests perfonncd <br /> consisted of No. 200 Washes and Resistance Value (R-Valuc).
