April 2, 2003
San Joaquin County Planning Commission
1801 E. Hazelton Ave.
Stockton, CA 95205
Attention:
Stan Mom
Christopher Eley
Larry Solari
Sandra Carter
Patrick Stockar
Subject: Quarry Excavation Application No. PA-0200370 (QX)
I am concerned with this Application that was filed by Munn& Perkins, a
Division of George Reed, Inc.,P.O. Box 4760, Modesto, CA 95352 to remove 2.4
million cubic yards of sand and gravel from the comer of Harrold Avenue and River
Road. I live about fifth of a mile from this proposed site. Here are my concerns:
1. I will be hearing the beep beeping of the large trucks when they back up night and
day.
2. The value of my property will go down.
3. The truck activity will be worse than what it is now. When the trucks come out of
the River Road Quarry right now, most do not stop for traffic and are very bold.
Munn& Perkins even installed a sign to slow down traffic on River Road when
the trucks come out. There is a slight curve and when you are rounding that curve
it is very dangerous when a slow truck just comes out without stopping. With this .
proposal there will be more trucks, more possible accidents.
4. Is there an impact report from the Fish and Game about the Habitat of the
streambeds, if so I would like a copy.
5. Is there an impact report from the Regional Water Quality Control Board? The
discharge of anything they dig up will go into the stream, if so I want a copy.
Also if the digging gets too deep there will be standing water, the quarry will be a
place for breeding misquotes and other insects.
6, is there an impact report from the California Environmental Agency on impact of
this quarry, if so I want a copy.
