i
L N%./
60 May 5,2005
NOA Project Number: E05057A
6.5 Percolation Test Procedure
Percolation tests were conducted on April 26, 2005 in accordance with the requirements of the
EHD.A percolation test with a duration of four hours was performed for the hole. The final
half-hour of the four-hour percolation tests were observed by Mr. Larry Godinho, Senior Registered
Environmental Health Specialist, EHD.
Measurement of the water level during the percolation test was from a fixed reference point on the
PVC casing using an electric well sounder with an depth accuracy of 1/100th foot. All tabulated
values on the field data sheet (appendix) are in decimal feet. After water drop was observed, the
hi" holes were checked for refill. The refill level was approximately 0.5 ft (6 inches) of water above the
bottom level of the percolation test hole. The readings were taken approximately every 30 minutes
for a period of four hours.
6.6 Percolation Test Forms and Results
The completed percolation test forms are included in the appendix of this report.
A shallow percolation test is defined by the EHD as being between 36 and 42 inches in depth;a
60 satisfactory percolation rate for a shallow test is less than or equal to 60 minutes per inch drop. One
percolation test must demonstrate a satisfactory percolation rate within the proposed septic system
disposal field of each parcel to utilize a standard septic system. Details of the percolation tests are
summarized in Table 9.
Table 9.
Summary of Percolation Tests.
Test No., Percolation Percolation Rate Test Comment
Date Tested Test Depth(ft) (minutes/inch) Duration
P-1 shallow,4/26/05 3.45 16.7 4-hr Satisfactory percolation rate
P-2 shallow,4/26/05 3.33 8.93 4-hr Satisfactory percolation rate
P-3 shallow,4/26/05 3.49 --- 4-hr No wat d;op observed,fail
P-4 shallow,4/26/05 3.47 125 4-hr Slow ercolatt n ,
ba Note: A satisfactory percolation rate for a"shallow"test is less than or equal to 60 minutes per inch.
bw
1..
10
.,444
V
