All have substantial layers of hardpan that have been broken up from land leveling, <br /> deep ripping, chiseling and discing. They also have a slow to moderate rate of water permeability <br /> and low available water capacity. <br /> In consideration of proper winter water applications to the farming fields, the manure effluent <br /> storage system is designed to retain a worse case rainfall season. The annual rainfall in the area <br /> is purported to be 12 inches. The soils have none to rare flooding potential, therefore having slight <br /> limitations for the application of agricultural manure effluent. Agricultural manure effluent should <br /> be applied during periods of the year when the probability of flooding is low, which for this area is <br /> between April to October months. The projected capacity required at this facility (based on a <br /> seven month storage of manure effluent, milk parlor water and rainfall runoff) to ensure the <br /> maximum volume can be retained on site is 7,946,389 gallons (Phase 1), 9,329,429 gallons <br /> (Phase II); and adding the average 12 inches annually of rainfall plus 3.4 inches from a 25 year 24 <br /> hour storm is 823,2572 gallons (Phase 1), 1,197,1602 gallons (Phase 11), resulting in a total volume <br /> of manure effluent to be 10,856,061 gallons (Phase 1), 12,390,103 gallons (Phase II).
