It is EHD understanding that the home ranch can accept all liquid manure and
maintain a nutrient balance. It is also EHD understanding that manure solids will need to be hauled
off site in order to maintain a nutrient balance on the home ranch. The continued lease arrangement
allows the solids to be applied to land away from the dairy that can benefit with manure solids. The
following conditions apply in regards to the manure management plan:
• The proposed monitoring program (including soil and irrigation water(s)) should begin
immediately to coincide with the next crop cycle.
• The domestic and irrigation wells should be monitored annually for nitrate (NO3) as
described in the study.
• The milking barn plans are to require a new septic system, installed under permit with
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department.
• The noted irrigation and domestic wells are to be destroyed, by a licensed contractor,
under permit and inspection with San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, please contact Robin Trindade, Senior R.D.I.,
R.E.H.S., of my staff, at(209)468-3445.
Donna Heran, Director
Environmental Health Department
/r-Mikeuggins, Supervising R.D.I., R.E.H.S.
Land Use Program Supervisor
Cc: Don Chesney, Chesney Consulting
Louis Pratt, Regional Water Quality Control Board
