The shelter for the dogs should be constructed in such a manner as to be <br /> easily accessible for cleaning and servicing. <br /> b. Interior walls of the shelter and associated maintenance room should be a <br /> easily cleanable finish, preferably of painted plaster or concrete. <br /> c. The shelter floor and the immediate feeding area within pens or dog runs shall <br /> be of smooth concrete, coved on edges and graded toward a floor drain <br /> leading to legal sewage disposal facilities.* <br /> d. The remainder of each pen or dog run may be smooth earthpack, preferable <br /> covered with pea gravel to a depth of three inches. <br /> e. A convenient water supply and legal waste water disposal facilities shall be <br /> available for washing food preparation equipment, bathing of animals, as well <br /> as washing down shelters and pens or dog runs. <br /> f. Animal food will be stored and fed in a manner which will not attract or serve <br /> as horborage or breeding site for flies or rodents. <br /> g. Applicant shall demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Environmental Health <br /> Department (EHD) that they have appropriate facilities and the means for daily <br /> cleaning and disposal of dog droppings from pens or shelter without creating a <br /> nuisance. Acceptable disposal includes wrapping in two (2) layers of paper <br /> and depositing in garbage can, burial under 18: tight soil, or flushing into <br /> sewer. ** <br /> h. Application for permit and fee must be submitted to the EHD for operation. <br /> * Size of septic system shall be based on 1200 gallon septic tank plus <br /> 15 gallon/cage or 10 gallon/dog (use highest total). <br /> ** For new kennels disposal must be in septic system or sewer. <br />
