1_
August 11,2000 -9-
003-7170
statistical data evaluation is unnecessary, and the concentration limits proposed for the synthetic
organic compounds are their respective analytical detection limits.
The concentration limits for inorganic constituents (general water-quality parameters) will be
calculated tolerance limits.
Appropriately, the tolerance interval method is proposed to be used in evaluating inorganic water-
quality monitoring data for the site. This method is one of the four methods of statistical analysis
recommended in Title 27, Article 1, Sections 20380 through 20435 (Title 27), and it will be used in
` determining statistically significant evidence of a release from a source.
The tolerance interval method is used to estimate the highest value (and the lowest value in the case of
L pH and nitrate-nitrogen) of each monitoring parameter that a monitoring point can exhibit and still be
reasonably attributed to natural variability. A tolerance interval establishes a concentration range that
contains a specified proportion, or coverage, of the population with a specified confidence limit. The
coverage and confidence limits to be used for the site monitoring program are 95 percent and 95
percent, respectively, as required by Title 27.
4.4 Reporting
The water quality monitoring data will be reported on a quarterly basis to the RWQCB. The
` monitoring reports will be submitted on the 301h day of the month following each quarter of the year.
Quarterly reports will include tabular summaries of the monitoring data, determination of ground
water flow direction and gradient, a ground water contour map, and a statistical analysis of the
monitoring data. Graphical summaries of the analytical data will be prepared on an annual basis.
5.0 SCHEDULE
Field activities will be initiated following receipt of approval of the work plan by the RW
activities are anticipated to be completed over a four week period includinglaboratory
c Field
ory chemical
analysis. Field activities are planned to be initiated on September 5, 2000. Assuming approval of the
L workplan is received by August 30, 2000, a well completion report can be submitted to the CRWQCB
by October 30, 2000.
6.0 REFERENCES
California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region, 2000.
