CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL BOARD <br /> CENTRAL VALLEY REGION <br /> MONITORING AND REPORTING PROGRAM NO. 5-00-056 <br /> FOR <br /> OWENS-BROCKWAY <br /> AND <br /> OWENS-ILLINOIS GLASS FL-FLNACE FACILITY <br /> SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY <br /> This monitoring and reporting program(MRP)describes requirements for monitoring domestic and process <br /> wastewater effluent,process wastewater infiltration/evaporation ponds, domestic wastewater septic tanks <br /> and leachfields, and groundwater. This MRP is issued pursuant to Water Code Section 13267. The <br /> Discharger shall not implement any changes to this MRP unless and until a revised MRP is issued by the <br /> _ Executive Officer. Specific sample station locations shall be approved by Regional Board staff prior to <br /> implementation of sampling activities. <br /> All samples should be representative of the volume and nature of the discharge or matrix of material <br /> sampled. The time, date, and location of each grab sample shall be recorded on the sample chain of <br /> custody form. <br /> DOMESTIC WASTEWATER EFFLUENT MONITORING <br /> This section refers to the primary domestic wastewater s-,—stem. Domestic wastewater effluent samples <br /> shall be collected prior to discharge into the leachfield. Flow monitoring shall be estimated in <br /> accordance with the approved wastewater estimation procedure described in Waste Discharge <br /> Requirements Order No. 5-00-056 Provision E.5, and shall be reported in average gallons per day. <br /> Effluent monitoring shall include, at a minimum, the following: <br /> Constituents Units Type of Sample Sampling Frequency Reporting Frequency <br /> Flow Gallons Estimate Quarterly Quarterly <br /> BODS mg/1 Grab Quarterly Quarterly <br /> Nitrates as Nitrogen mg/1 Grab Quarterly Quarterly <br /> Specific Conductivity µmhos/cm Grab Quarterly Quarterly <br /> BODS denotes five-day, 20° Celsius Biochemical Oxygen Demand. <br /> SEPTIC TANK MONITORING <br /> Septic tanks shall be inspected and pumped as described below. An inspection is not required during <br /> the quarter a septic tank is pumped. <br />
