Conditions of Approval <br /> UP 88-19 <br /> Page -32- <br /> wastewater disposal field; establish an unirrigated <br /> 50-foot-wide buffer strip along each bank (or other <br /> off-site mitigation approved by the Department of <br /> Fish and Game and U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service) ; <br /> (2) Locate the wastewater disposal area in the northern <br /> portion of the Tri-State/Cheng site, and provide <br /> 50-foot-wide "natural" unirrigated strips around <br /> the perimeter of the fields (or other off-site <br /> mitigation approved by the Department of Fish and <br /> Game and U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service) ; <br /> ' (3) Provide a minimum of 20 artificial burrowing owl <br /> burrows and nest boxes, to be constructed and <br /> located as approved by the Department of Fish and <br /> Game; acquire the necessary State and Federal <br /> permits prior to any relocation efforts; maintain <br /> and repair the nests at regular intervals; <br /> (4) During pre-construction period project, boundaries <br /> shall be staked; protective fencing shall be <br /> provided for vulnerable on-site habitats such as <br /> riparian corridors and nests/burrows; and pre- <br /> construction surveys shall be initiated 30 days <br /> before planned construction and shall be conducted <br /> prior to each project stage to locate burrowing <br /> . owl, kit foxes, and kit fox dens; <br /> (5) During all construction periods, a biologist shall <br /> be made available to provide assistance and to <br /> monitor the successful implementation of these <br /> mitigation measures; <br /> (6) Any kit fox dens or burrowing owl nests identified <br /> within the path of construction shall be excavated <br /> prior to the breeding/nesting season under the <br /> direct supervision of a wildlife biologist, subject <br /> to Department of Fish and Game and U. S. Fish and <br /> Wildlife Service approval; <br /> (7) An endangered species compliance program shall be <br /> developed and implemented for project employees and <br /> contractors; this program shall be subject to <br /> approval of the Department of Fish and Game and the <br /> County and shall be reviewed during the annual <br /> mitigation monitoring program; <br />
