The amount of nitrate concentrations used in
the fertilizers used to grow rice on the subject also does not appear to be a problem. A
map on file in the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health
Division shows that area of the subject property does not have a nitrate concentration
problem.
Mitiati n Measures: No chemical residues, septic system failures or hazardous
material storage areas or any subsurface construction were found to cause any
contamination. The rice crops are not contributing to nitrate problems nor are chemical
applications used in growing rice a cause for environmental concern so there is no need
for correction in any of these areas. However, the mentioned abandoned tank should be
removed and deposited at an approved toxic waste site.
Continuing the present conditions and use on the proposed three (3) parcels is not
expected to impact ground water nor cause other health hazards..
Walter E.
