SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
Introduction
Live Oak GeoEnvironmental, Inc (Live Oak) was contracted by Susan Balogh and Jean
Kent to conduct a Soil Suitability Study for their property located at 19625 North
Southworth Road, Lodi. California (Plate 1).
The Soil Suitability Study was conducted to determine whether the soils are suitable for
use with a septic system. The study was performed according to the requirements of
Section 9-1105.2(d) of the San Joaquin County Development code.
The formatting of the report has been designed to follow the recommendations of the
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department as described in its Soil
Suitability Study Requirements Checklist.
Proposed Development
The proposed project is a minor subdivision to split the Site into a 320-acre Parcel 1 and
an 80-acre Parcel 2 (Plate 2). Ms. Balogh indicated that she has no plans to develop the
Site or change the land uses.
Site Description
.. The Site, Assessor's Parcel Number (APN) 023-260-01, is approximately 400 acres in
size. The Site consists of open land with an old ranch house, small bunkhouse, and
numerous associated outbuildings. Three water wells are located near the structures.
A recent aerial photograph of the Site is included as Plate 3.
The elevation of the Site, according to a United States Geological Survey topographic
map, is approximately 270 to 490 feet above mean sea level (Plate 4). The Site
topography is hilly; a mesa crosses it just south of the center of the property.
The San Joaquin County Community Development Department web site states that the
Site is zoned AG-80, general agriculture with a minimum parcel size of 80 acres. This
zoning designation "is established to preserve agricultural lands for the continuation of
commercial agricultural enterprises."
LOGE 1322 Page 1
