I. INTRODUCTION
Dillon & Murphy was retained by Dayton and Pearl Silva to perform a soil suitability
study for the Silva property located at 24424 N. Sowles Road, Acampo, CA. The subject
parcel number is APN 007-150-30. The purpose of the study is to determine the suitability of
the property for septic tank usage as well as testing the groundwater for certain chemicals as
required by the San Joaquin County Development Code.
II. PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT
The property is currently zoned AL-5. The Silva property consists of an 18.79 acre parcel
_ (see appendix for map). It is proposed to divide the parcel into two 5 acre parcels and one
8.79 acre parcel. The split is being done under Minor Subdivision Application 94-37.
_ III. PRESENT AND PAST USE OF THE SITE
Presently, Parcel 3 is a homesite with some grazing land for cattle. Parcels 1 and 2 are
bare land used as grazing land for cattle. This is the historical use of the land.
IV. EXISTING AND PROPOSED SEPTIC TANK USAGE
There is an existing septic system located on homesite Parcel 3. There are no septic
systems located on Parcels 1 or 2. Any future homesite on Parcels 1 and 2 would require a
septic system consisting of a septic tank and leach field. Based on conversations with
neighbors, existing septic systems in the area have performed adequately.
V. GROUND WATER AND DEPTH TESTING
According to the map of"Lines of Equal Depth to Water in Wells" published fall,
1990, by the San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water Conversation District, the depth to
groundwater at this location is approximately 120 feet.
(See the appendix for the ground water gradient.)
There is an existing well on Parcel 3 as shown in the appendix. This well has been
tested for DBCP and nitrates (see appendix for results).
2
