Lab Sink Info
Jeff,
Good afternoon. In response to your call and request from Wednesday, please see the attached photo
and info below. Please let me know if you require additional info.Thank you and have a great weekend.
Valimet Lab Sink Info
We have 3 chemicals that are used in our lab, besides water. They are:
- Nitric Acid
- Hydrochloric Acid
- Hydrofluoric Acid
We use these chemicals in the following total, approximate amounts on a weekly basis(weekly totals):
- Nitric Acid—17.5 ml
- Hydrochloric Acid—17.5 ml
- Hydrofluoric Acid -.5 ml
That is not a typo,we use very little of these three chemicals each week. These are mixed with over
1200ml of water evenly, across approximately 6 uses. After use,we dump the entire mixture down the
lab sink with more water from the tap. There is a huge amount of water compared to the chemicals
used. The lab sink is 19 years old and this has been our procedure for as long as we have had a lab. I
wasn't sure of this info myself until you asked for me to compile it.
Again, if you have any questions, please let me know.Thank you very much and have a great weekend.
Bill Johnson
Vice President of Administration
2
