SAN J _AQUIN FARM BUR-,.,,AU FEDERATION
MEETING TODAY'S CHALLENGES/ PLANNING FOR TOMORROW
i
October 15, 2003
Chairman Christopher Eley
San Joaquin County Planning Commission
1810 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
Dear Chairman Eley,
The San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation has reviewed application referral PA-0300401
(VR) Inman& Silva, a variance application to reduce the zone minimum from 10 acres to
.88 acres to allow a proposed subdivision.
The San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation opposes this variance. This variance would set
a dangerous precedent for creating substandard parcels in San Joaquin County. It would
allow parcels less than 10 acres in the AL 10 zone. This variance would encourage a
growth-inducing effect on agricultural zoned parcels and create more ag/urban conflicts.
The San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation policy and San Joaquin County General Plan
acknowledgement of agriculture zones is to protect the current zone allowances.
The San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation strongly recommends this variance application
be denied.
Regards,
Joe Petersen
Program Director
P.O.BOX 8444 • 3290 NORTH AD ART ROAD • (209)931-4931 • STOCKTON,CALIFORNIA 95208
