KLEINFELDER
Nb = Background nitrate nitrogen concentration of rainfall recharge at the water table =
0.5 mg/1 (per Technical Memorandum, Hydrologic and Soil Investigation for the
Chico Urban Area, page 6, Dames and Moore, April 1996)
Our calculation is as follows:
N, = 0.51(2)(35)(1 -0.25)+13.6(0.5) 26.8 + 6.8 = 2.3 mg/l as N
0.51(2)+13.6 1.02 +13.6
CONCLUSIONS
Based on the above evaluation, we conclude that wastewater produced by the maximum possible
number of leach fields allowed should not cause the nitrate levels in groundwater below the site
to rise above the state standards. The results of our percolation tests indicate that a suitable soil
percolation stratum exists at a depth of about 3.0 to 3.5 feet at all of the locations tested and
conventional septic tank/leach trench sewage disposal system designed per SJC/EHD criteria
should adequately serve the proposed residences.
LIMITATIONS
The conclusions of this report are based on the information provided regarding the existing and
proposed development and on the site conditions. It was assumed that the percolation test results
are representative of the subsurface conditions in the general area.
This completes the scope of work requested. Our work was performed in general accordance
with the standard of care that exists in San Joaquin County.
