ADL,iTIONAL INFORMA TION REQ UIREMENTS
VAN RUITEN— TAYLOR WINERY
LODI, SAN JOA QUINCOUNTY
1) Describe the site location, the topography, prevailing wind directions, and nearby industrial or
populated areas. Provide information on the previous land use. Provide a site map that shows
property lines, buildings, treatment or storage ponds, land application areas, and surface water
drainage courses within 1,000 feet of the site.
2) Do active or abandoned industrial, agricultural, domestic, or groundwater wells exist on the
property or the wastewater disposal area(s)? If yes, provide a map showing their location(s).
Include available data on the depth of groundwater and information on aquifers and aquitards
identified beneath the property.
3) Describe any ion exchange (water softening), reverse osmosis, or other treatment process for
the supply water. Describe the disposal of any regeneration brine or reverse osmosis reject
water.
4) Provide a description of the process supply wastewater; at a minimum, the process supply
water should be characterized for the following analytical parameters: nitrate, total Kjeldahl
nitrogen, total dissolved solids, and pH.
5) Provide a list of chemicals that are used in the winemaking processes, including all chemicals
used in tank, bottle, or other cleaning. Describe the sources of hot water used in the winery.
6) Provide a flow diagram of the wastewater generation and treatment system. Include a map
showing the locations of all treatment equipment, clarifiers, sumps, or pump stations.
Describe procedures to control contaminants in the wastewater streams and in the wastewater
ponds.
7) Describe all site activities that generate wastewater. Describe any daily or seasonal variations
in volume and the total discharged. Describe anticipated wastewater flow trends for the next
ten years. Is flow anticipated to increase or decrease? Is construction of a distillery planned
for the site?
8) Describe the quality of the wastewater. The description should include maximum and average
concentrations of BOD, suspended matter, nitrate, and total Kjeldahl nitrogen, total dissolved
solids (fixed and volatile), and pH. Describe seasonal variations. If analytical data is not
available, estimates of wastewater quality can be provided with references.
9) Describe opportunities to reduce, reuse, or recycle wastewater. Also describe the effect on
wastewater quality of recycling activities.
10) Describe the proposed wastewater disposal system. Clearly show that this method of disposal
will not impact the quality of the underlying groundwater.
11) Describe the storage/disposal of all stormwater and domestic wastewater. If septic systems are
used for disposal of domestic wastewater, include descriptions of the septic systems and the
maintenance of the systems. The descriptions shall include the number of users, location,
flow rate, size, and construction materials, as well as leachfield size and location.
12) If surface impoundments will be used to store wastewater or regeneration brine, provide
diagrams and a description of the planned impoundment, location, size and depth, construction
materials, inlet and outlets, depth to groundwater below the bottom of the pond, and existing
