Riechers Spence & Associates Job #: 21 02 049.0
Consulting Civil Engineers Date: 10/24/02
L Central Valley Region
3443 Routier Road, Suite A
Sacramento, CA, 95827-3003
Attention: Timothy R. O'Brien
Re.: Ehlers Family Estate Winery
Process Wastewater Treatment System
9301 W Highway 12
Lodi, CA 95242
A.P.N.: 025-080-002
L
Dear Mr. O'Brien:
The Ehlers family is proposing to construct a new wine production facility at
9301 W Highway 12 in Lodi, California. Annual production capacity of this
new facility will be 15,000 cases of wine per year.
Ehlers is proposing to build this facility in one phase being fully operational for
the 2003 crush. The conversion of an existing onsite storage building to the
production facility has been proposed and applications for site approval
have been made to San Joaquin County and the RWQCB (Apl. # PA-02-146).
The small winery facility will only be used for the production of wine and no
public tasting is proposed.
For treatment of the process wastewater a new activated sludge treatment
system will be constructed. At full production the system will consist of a
three cell aerated tank facility with sludge return. The cell usage will be
adjusted according to the production of the winery throughout the year to
provide sufficient treatment of the process wastewater. An equalization tank
L will be added before the aeration tanks. Screening and pH adjustment will
occur in this equalization tank.
After treatment, the reclaimed process wastewater will be stored in an
existing onsite irrigation pond and disposed of through drip irrigation. The
irrigation plan will supplement the existing irrigation of approximately 268
- acres of vineyard, 10 acres of corn, 5 acres of pumpkins and 82 acres of
tomatoes.
L
L
2
L
