January 17, 2006 Page 19 RNC PROJECT NUMBER 41204B 7.2 Aerial Photographs Aerial photographs of the subject property, dated 1937, 1957, and 1968, were obtained from the Shields Library at the University of California Davis campus. k All of the photographs reviewed by RNC depict the subject property as unimproved open range grazing land. 7.3 USGS Topographic Maps Historic topographic maps of the subject property were obtained from the Shields Library ' at the University of California Davis campus. $ Maps of the Valley Springs quadrangle published in 1962, and 1998 were reviewed. Both editions depict the subject property as undeveloped rural land surrounded by more ' undeveloped rural land. I 7.4 Sanborn Insurance Company Maps The Sanborn Map Company of Pelham, New York,produced a series of ma large-scale maps, p , dating from 1867 to the present and depicting the commercial, industrial, and residential sections of some twelve thousand cities and towns in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The maps ... show the size, shape, and construction of dwellings, commercial buildings, and factories .... The maps also indicate widths and names of streets, property boundaries, building use, and house and block numbers. Sanborn maps are thus an unrivaled source of information about the structure and use of buildings in American cities. In1996, the Sanborn Map Company was acquired by Environmental Data Resources, Inc. (EDR). EDR reports no Sanborn maps are available which depict the subject property. 7.5 Property Tax Files Because the property is undeveloped, property tax files were not considered likely to ' provide useful information and were therefore not reviewed.
