low March 28,2005 NOA Project Number: E05007A 2.2 Aerial Photographs Aerial photographs depicting the subject property dated 1937,1952,1963,1975 and 1983 were reviewed at the San Joaquin County Surveyor's Office in Stockton,California'. One additional photo,dated 1993, •• was obtained from Microsoft Terraserver. In the 1937 photo,the subject property appears to be part of a larger field used for growing row crops. An irrigation canal is apparent along the northern property line. Ahern Road and the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks can be seen. Small creeks are apparent to the north. Agricultural land and a few scattered rural residences are apparent on all sides of the subject property. In the 1952 photo, a small object such as an irrigation water return sump can be seen on the western boundary of the subject property. New structures are apparent to the southeast and east. 1r In the 1963 photo, the possible sump can no longer be seen. It appears that an irrigation canal runs along the western boundary of the property. WW In the 1975 photo,a new residence is apparent to the immediate southeast of the subject property. 61 In the 1983 photo,additional new development is apparent to the southeast. In the 1993 photo,the subject property and its immediate vicinity appear relatively unchanged from the 6. previous photo. These photos are included in Appendix C of this report. NOA's ability to interpret the land uses is `w limited by the scale and quality of the photos. 2.3 USGS Topographic Maps am The topographic quadrangle depicting the subject property is the U.S. Geological Survey, Vernalis, California, quadrangle map. One 7.5-minute map dated 1991 was available at NOA and through ` Microsoft Terraserver . In the 1991 map,the subject property is depicted as vacant or crop land located at 70 to 75 feet above an mean sea level. The property and vicinity slope down to the southwest at a rate of approximately 20 feet per mile. Surrounding land is vacant or crop land with scattered residences. A landing strip is depicted slightly over one-quarter mile to the southeast. These maps are included in Appendix C of this report.
