I. INTRODUCTION
This Report issues my findings regarding the Nitrate Loading and Soil Suitability Studies completed
for the subject property under examination, located in a rural area, southeast of the city of Tracy.
These Studies have been completed to examine the underlying soil structure and characteristics to
determine the suitability of an on-site decentralized wastewater management system, commonly
referred to as a septic system and to design a system accordingly. The proposed construction project
for the property is to be the Seeds of Life Prayer and Meditation Community Center. These Studies
provide the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) with their required
information pertaining to the current status of the soil and groundwater in relation to nitrate loading
potential from the future on-site wastewater disposal system and comply with San Joaquin County
Development Title, Section 9-1105.2(d). The owner of the property is referenced on the Title Page.
Ms. Alyssa Meis of Verbum Dei Mission has provided the preliminary information to complete
these Studies.
Within the text of this Report, Bolded Section (§) numbers are referenced at the beginning of an
applicable Paragraph(s), or Appendices that correspond with the EHD Requirements Checklist.
Section Numbers referenced as SSS§, are sections applicable for the Soil Suitability Study
Requirements Checklist. Section Numbers referenced as NLS§, are sections applicable for the
Nitrate Loading Study Requirements Checklist. Other portions of text may also apply to other
sections of the Checklists and may not be necessarily referenced.
NLS§2.3,,SSS§3.1. The subject property is located approximately 12 miles southeast of the city_
of Tracy in the NEC intersection of State Route 33 and Durham Ferry Road. Tracy municipal
water/sewer facilities have not expanded to this area and it may be several decades before public
services are available. There are four residential structures currently on the property with
wastewater managed by conventional systems and domestic water provided by an on-site well. The
two northernmost structures share one septic system. The two southernmost residential structures
apparently contain their own septic disposal systems (tank and disposal field). Additionally, a
storage building, garage, and two sheds also exist on the property. The proposed new Prayer and
Meditation Center structure will be served by two Mens's and two Women's restrooms with a septic
tank serving these restrooms. This tank will also accept all effluent flows from the four residential
structures for ultimate disposal. Design Criteria described in this report will unify all of the existing
and future wastewater flows into a completely new treatment and pressurized filter bed disposal
system. -
SS 1.2.1.1 The property is 1.14 acres in size with the aforementioned improvements currently
on the property. Present land use of the property can be observed by the attached aerial Google
Maps. Current and future zoning is R-R, Rural Residential
The soils testing protocol has found the indigenous under the test locations to contain a predominate
lean clay soil material that has a comparatively rapid permeability considering the soil's clay
content. This phenomenon has been witnessed many times in Tracy area soils where there is high
clay content soil with rapid permeability. Due to the permeability observed within the on-site soils,
management of wastewater effluent should readily occur, as calculated in this document.
Page -1-
