December 6, 2005
NOA Project Number: E05128A
6.6 Percolation Test Forms and Results
The completed percolation test forms are included in the appendix of this report.
A shallow percolation test is defined by the EHD as being between 36 and 42 inches in depth;a
satisfactory percolation rate for a shallow test is less than or equal to 60 minutes per inch drop.
Details of the percolation tests are summarized in Table 5.
Table 5.
Summary of Percolation Tests.
Test No., Percolation Percolation Rate Test
Date Tested Test Depth (ft) (minutes/inch) Duration Comment
P-1 shallow,9-23-05 3.14 1.83 4-hr Satisfactory percolation rate
(Parcel 1)
P-2 shallow,9-23-05 3.18 1.85 4-hr Satisfactory percolation rate
Parcel 2
Note: A satisfactory percolation rate for a"shallow'test is less than or equal to 60 minutes per inch.
6.7 Discussion of Percolation Test Results V
S
The soils within the sewage disposal areas of the proposed parcels that are within San Joquin County `
have demonstrated a satisfactory percolation rate in accordance with the requirements of the EHD.
The soils of the Site appear to be suitable for a standard septic system.
6.8 Discussion of Septic System Sizing
Septic system construction should follow the San Joaquin County On-Site Wlastewater Disposal Standards
where applicable.
7.0 CONCLUSIONS
In summary, satisfactory percolation rates of the soil were achieved in the proposed septic disposal
areas of the Site. The project is suitable for development provided the following additional steps are
taken to minimize potential nitrate impacts to the ground water due to fairly rapid percolation rates
measured.
• Utilize standard filter bed septic system design as described by the EHD with the
following modifications:
• Minimum Septic Tank Sizes
2 bedroom— 1200
3 bedroom— 1600
i
8
