San Joaquin County
Community Development Department
Attention: Mo Hatef
Re: Application#PA-1200063 (SA)
St.Jorge Winery
Vernon J &Jenise M.Vierra
Was this property originally permitted as a winery or was it permitted as an event center? The
application states the construction of a 5652 square foot"Wine Garden". Can you describe a wine
garden to me? What permit could be issued for a wine garden? The closest definition I could find is a
wine garden is a private, secluded, restful shaded area where wine may be enjoyed among all types off
garden plants. I'm sure your aware of the fact that the "Wine Garden" is advertised all over the
Internet as our brand new outdoor amphitheater. (see attached marked#1 ) I'm only guessing, but I
would guess the permits issued for an amphitheater are quite different than those issued for a"Wine
Garden". A wine garden suggests quite, tranquility, being close to nature. An amphitheater screams
hundreds of people, loud noise of all sorts, traffic problems, restroom issues and garbage issues. If St.
Jorge is allowed to have concerts and events twice a month with 150 people attending, our life in our
quiet neighborhood will forever be changed with noise, traffic, and loss of privacy. My property along
with my neighbors will diminish in value. I believe this application should not be granted, not only for
the above concerns but also because its purpose is misrepresented by Vern Vierra.
How was Mr.Vierra able to obtain a permit for rooms to rent to the general public ? (see attached
marked#2 ) Was a specific permit issued for the construction of the rooms for a specific use or did you
actually issue a permit for an exquisite suite?
When do the concerns of Romano and Judy Isola come into play? You allowed the building of a
winery and event center on their property line. Now you want to put restrooms in their backyard. Why
did you not require a noise barrier,a wall, something which would have showed that at least you
acknowledge there being. It is impossible to enjoy their own back yard. Music, music and more music
all coming over loud speakers which I can hear in my yard I People pull in their driveway, their lawn has
been run over by people turning around. People attempt to park in front of their house on Bender
Road. You have allowed St.Jorge winery not only to destroy their right to enjoy peace and quiet in their
own back yard, you also devalued their property.
This application can only be denied. It is not to expand an existing small winery, its sole purpose is
to create and expand an event center.
Thank you,
a > —
Leroy Liebbelt
571 West Taddei Road
Acampo, Ca 95220
