i San Joaquin Council of Governments 555 East Weber Avenue • Stockton,CA 95202 • (209)23.5-0600 • FAX(209)235-0438 San Joaquin County Airport Land Use Commission ALUC RESPONSE TO LOCAL JURISDICTION To: Rick Griffin,San Joaquin County Community Development Department From: Laura Brunn,Associate Regional Planner, San Joaquin Council of Governments Date: May 17,2011 Local Jurisdiction Project Title: PA-1100083 Love's Country Store Signage Area of Influence,Airport: Kingdon Executive Airport Safety Criteria Matrix Zone: Airport Influence Area Assessor Parcel Number(s): 025-190-18 (Zone 8) Status: Consistent Land Use with Conditions Dear Mr. Griffin: LAND USE CONSJSTENCY REVIEW The project site is located within the Kingdon Executive Airport's (AIA), and pursuant to the State Aeronautics Act (Public Utilities Code Section 21676), the project is subject to a Consistency Determination by the San Joaquin County ALUC. This project includes a Permit application to allow for an increase in the size and number of signs on a multi-tenant parcel. The project is located east of Thornton Rd., 800 ft.north of SR 12, near I-5 in Flag City, APN 025-190-18. The land uses proposed with the new construction are compatible with the 2009 ALUCP Zones for Kingdon Executive Airport. The following are standards and project design conditions specific to compliance with the 2009 ALUCP and should be carried through as conditions of approval: 1. New land uses that may cause visual, electronic, or increased bird strike hazards to aircraft in flight shall not be permitted within any airport's influence area. Specific characteristics to be avoided include: o Glare or distracting lights which could be mistaken for airport lights. Reflective materials are not permitted to be used in structures or signs (excluding traffic directing signs); o Sources of dust, steam, or smoke which may impair pilot visibility; o Sources of electrical interference with aircraft communications or navigation. No transmissions which would interfere with aircraft radio communications or navigational signals are permitted.
