. Addendum: APN 163-190-37; PA 02-457
10900 E. Tokay Y Colon Road,Lodi, CA.
The purpose of this addendum is to provide additional information, as available, per request of the
EHD SJC as outlined in Ltr. Dtd. Oct. 2, 2003 and pertaining to the Soil Suitability Study
completed June 26,2003.
Section A: Two abandoned septic tanks.
The owner, Mr. Harlan Gartrell, has been advised to take appropriate action with
respect to the two septic tanks mentioned in your letter.
Section B: 3.0 EXISTING AND PROPOSED SEPTIC TANK USAGE SECTION
3.413.6 The only repair/installation permits are east of Route 88. The nearest residence
to 10900 is shown at 1/4 mile east of Route 88,new tank, one line and one 33"x25'pit and is
dated 1-16-03. Next is '/2 mile east of Route 88, initial system, dated 6-28-67. Next is 13,480 E.
Tokay Colony Road, initial system, a three bedroom apartment dated May 71.Next is described
as west of Jack Tone Road, install larger tank, dated 4-18-65. Next is 13,803 E. Tokay Colony
Road, add 160'LL/33"x 25'pit, dated 10-4-71. An installation at 13952 is dated 8-18-69. At
14075 one LL and pit was installed, date not readable.
The service life of the systems appears satisfactory. The description of the material is clay
loam, sandy loam, clay, hardpan and adobe.
3.7 The permit for a Mobile Home is dated 4-29-75. The extent of use is unknown. In
this type of soil a permeable layer is required to provide satisfactory service. A silty sandy layer
was determined to exist between approximate depths of 15' - 18'. The percolation rate was rapid.
With proper maintenance and use a second home (two bedrooms)with it's own septic system
should function satisfactorily. The weak area is most occupants forget they have a on-site septic
system. A riser to grade and effluent filter is recommended for any residence in this area.
5.0 SOIL PROFILE INFORMATION SECTION
5.1 No pit was dug. The soil profile is obtained by observing the drilling operation. The
soil profile is obtained by drilling to a minimum of 25'on each lot. The typical profile shown on
Parcel 1 perc test data sheet is also typical for Parcel 2. A soil profile is attached. A total of 6
i holes were augured on each lot. The dimensions on the site map reflect the applicable deep hole
1 passing the perc test. A new site map is enclosed showing 12,000 SF leach field area.
5.4 The 5 acre parcels are of adequate size to support on site septic system for SFR. As
previously stated a filter and riser to grade is recommended. The soil profile shows clay(dense at
times) and hard pan in the upper layer above the 15' level.
6.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION SECTION
6.1 The drilling method is to first drill to 25'and record the soil profile.Next a 42"
shallow hole is drilled approximately 10' from the first hole.Next a third hole is drilled to a depth
indicated by the 25'hole as a percable layer. If no percable layer is found additional 25'holes are
drilled. The holes may be separated by 10' or more. Mr. Mike Huggins has stated to others "he
does not care how many holes we have, but when the inspector arrives we are to point out the
one hole to be observed by the inspector."
M
i I
