During the development of
critical areas at the Granite Tracy Pit site, such as adjacent roads, petroleum pipelines, the
California Aqueduct, etc., a geotechnical engineer should periodically evaluate, for example every
20 to 25 feet of excavation, whether different or unusual soil condition exist in the slope such as
clean sands, seepage, or perched groundwater. During these visits it may be appropriate that
samples be carved out of the exposed slope and be tested for strength properties.
i
Observations should be summarized in report form and be provided to the necessary agencies
periodically.
We recommend that the portions of the excavated slopes in residual soils alluvial deposits be
protected from erosion as soon as possible after construction. In addition, the flow of surface
water over the slopes should be minimized by constructing channels to divert the flow away from
the slopes.
f F
VI. LIMITATIONS
This completes report the scope of services requested. Conclusions of this report are based on soil
p
conditions derived from five borings drilled for this study and review of borings drilled by Granite
Construction Company. It is possible that soil conditions could change between the points of
exploration. If changes are discovered-during construction', Kleinfelder is available to assist as
needed. This report was prepared in accordance with generally accepted standard of practice
which existed in San Joaquin County at the time the report was written.. No warranty, express or
implied, is made. We note that Granite Construction Company is responsible for the safety of
20-1 108-1812018RO96. Page 6 of 7 j
