Nine borings were drilled to a depth of about
25 feet. Nines rings were drilled to a depth of about three to three and a half feet. The soil borings
were later used for the percolation test holes;the locations of the borings are indicated in Plate 1.
5.2 Soil Boring Dimensions
` The soil borings were three and a half feet or 25 feet deep, as noted above, and were four inches in
diameter.
//5.3 Soil Lithology Observed
1
Generally, the soils encountered in the borings were similar to the soils reported by the San Joaquin
` County Soil Survey for the area (USDA, 1992).Table 5 presents a representative soil log for the
deep soil borings. Conditions were comparable in the shallow boring holes.
Table 5.
Soil Boring Log.
Depth Interval (ft) Soil Type Unified Soil Classification
0-3 Dark brown, slightly moist, silty fine to medium SM
sand with clay
3-4 Dark brown,slightly moist,silty fine to medium S:\I
sand with clay(slightly cemented)
4-25 Dark brown,moist,clayey sand(slightly SC
cemented
7 "44
