September 24, 1999
Job Number: S99244
Page 4
The Musco Olive Products Inc, ground water well is located about 1350 feet west of the
new leach field area. The well is reported to be 607 feet in total depth. Blank casing was set
from the surface to 207 feet in depth with a well seal installed to a depth of 50 feet. Static water
level at the time of completion was measured at 52 feet in depth-.The well is currently not used.
Two water samples were collected from the well on September 13 and 14, 1999 for VINI
testing. The samples were submitted to the FGL Environmental Laboratory and tested for the
 .
presence of dibromochloropropane(DBCP)and Nitrate(NO3)per San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Division requirements. A copy of the test results is attached in the
appendix. Test results indicate that DBCP was not detected (ND)and nitrate was found at 169
mg/1 as NO, (3.81 mg/l as N)-. The nitrate detected in the ground water was reported as NO3 by
I FGL and is below the maximum drinking water standard of 45 mg/l. This level is equivalent to
3.81 mg/l as N for the maximum drinking water standard of LO—TV/1-
Due
0mg/l_Due to the lack of coverage of the San Joaquin County Flood Control And Water
Conservation District ground water maps of the area, the groundwater elevation, depth, gradient,
f and flow direction were not available for the site. In an effort to obtain more information, a 40
foot deep exploration boring(B-1)was drilled to identify the soils and locate the depth to ground
water. No ground water was found.
The Midway California USGS 7.5-minute topographic map indicates an"artesian"well is
located near the northwestern property boundary of the 126 acre property(Plate 1). Artesian
conditions generally occur when a well taps an aquifer(normally confined) and sufficient pressure
causes water to rise above the top of the aquifer up through the well casing sometimes flowing.
The source of ground water of this well is not knoMabut is most likely from a deeper confined
----------------
iaquifer. No springs are indicated on the map near the site.
j -
i
I
I
i ♦ 4
1 y .
a
rt pt
