F.
September 24, 1999
Job Number:S992" :
Page 4
The Musco Olive Products Inc. ground waterwell is located about 1350 feet west_of the
Fnew leach field area: The,well is reported to be 607 feet in total depth. Blank casing was set.
'from the'surface.to 207 feet in depth with a well seal installed to a depth'of 50 feet, Static'water
r level at the time of completion was measured at`52-feet in depth.,The well is currently not used.
Two water samples were collected.from the well on September 13. and 14, 1999 for
testing-. The samples were submitted to the FGL Environmental Laboratory and tested for the.
presence of dibromochloropi-opane(DBCP)and Nitrate(NO3)per San Joaquin County.
.
q Y ,
Environmental.Health Division requirements.. A copy of the test results is attached in the
appendix. Test results indicate that DBCP was not detected and nitrate was found at 16.9
mg/las NO3.(3.81.mg/l as N)., 'The nitrate detected in the re •
r ground water was reported as NO3 by
FGL and is below the maximum drinking water standard of 45 mg/l. This level is equivalent to
3.81 mg/l as N for the maximum drinking water standard of 10 mg/1.
Due to the lack of coverage of the San Joaquin Caunty Flood Control And Water
Conservation District:ground water maps of the area, the ground water elevation, depth, gradient,
- and flow direction were not available for the site, In an effort to obtain more information, a 40
ootdeep exploration boring(B-1)was drilled to identify the soils and locate the depth to ground
water. No ground water was found. .
The Nfidway California USES 7.5-minute topographic map indicates•an"artesian"well is.
located near the northwestern property boundaryof the 126 acre property(Plate 1). Artesian
conditions generally occur when a well taps an aquifer(normally confined) and sufficient pressure
causes water.to2 rise above the top of the aquifer up through the well casing sometimes flowing.
The source of ound water of this well is not kna but is most likely from a deeper confined
aquifer. No springs are indicated on the map near the site-.
r
w
}
