The property in question is
currently accessible only via a small bridge over a creek. In the past I
have not been able to find any information as to the status of the bridge
in regards to it's stability or load limit. I would be strongly opposed to
any additional traffic on the bridge until it is properly inspected and
found to be in compliance with the County standard. Exhibit A of the
Fire Apparatus Access Road Standards reads "Bridges, box culverts, or
low water crossings shall be designed for HS20-44 loading by a Civil or
Structural Engineer". The road providing access to the project will also
have to be in compliance with the County Fire Apparatus Access Road
Standards.
In addition, the access road runs 0.7 miles from Victory Road to the dead
end. I also have concerns with the lack of two means of access and
egress. In the event the bridge fails or is blocked fire apparatus and other
emergency services cannot access the area. If you have any questions
please feel free to contact me.
T it
s Chief/Fire Marshal
Escalon Fire District
i
