STATE OF CALIFORNIA--THE RESOURCES AGENCY George Deukmejian , Governor
DEPARTMENT OF OF FORESTRY AND FIRE PROTECTION
Star Route #1
785 Mountain Ranch Road
San Andreas , CA 95249
Telephone : ( 209 ) 754-3831
Ref : 5300 RECE9VED
November 7 , 1989 [10V 8 1989
San Joaquin County Planning llivisionUN , y
1810 East Hazelton Avenue PLAN(\lif 'G D1V1SI0'p.1
Stockton , CA 95205
Attention: Chandler Marten
Associate Planner
Re : QX-90-3
E1 Rancho Rock and Sand , Inc
The proposed project , for the purpose of a quarry excavation ,
is located on land that is classified as State Responsibility
Area ( SRA ) for wildland fire protection provided by the
California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection ( CDF) ,
Tuolumne/Calaveras Ranger Unit .
The only comment that we have on this proposal is that the
project proponent should be advised by conveyance of this
letter that by operating within SRA, they will be required to
adhere to all state fire laws pertaining to their operation.
Some of the requirements pertaining to fire prevention , but not
all inclusive , are as follows :
- Clearance around all structures of flammable or dead
vegetation to a minimum of thirty ( 30) feet .
-Spark arrestors , functioning in proper order , in place on all
internal combustion engines that are required to have same .
-A secure fire tool cache on the work site used for the purpose
of fire suppression only .
-The required type and number of fire tools on each vehicle
used on the project site .
-A Hazardous Materials Business Plan should be prepared , with a
copy on the project site , a copy filed with the appropriate
San Joaquin County Department , and a copy filed at this office
of the CDF . Such plan would be required if the Hazardous
Materials used or stored on the project exceed the threshold
amounts .
Should you have any questions , I can be contacted at the above
address and telephone number .
